medical illustrator

Medical Illustrator

Duties and Responsibilities: medical illustrators are skilled at drawing or creating graphics for textbooks, journals, magazines, and educational films. They also medical illustrators make artificial body parts so the surgeons have in mind what they’re going to do to the patient.

Average Salary:  $35,000 - $50,000

Educational Requirements: If you’re interested in becoming a Medical Illustrator you should take a college preparatory program while you’re in high school emphasizing in science and in art. When you’re in college you either have to major in art or in science or they can be switched. To get a certificate for a medical illustrator you have to pass a national examination, portfolio review, and have a master’s degree in medical illustration.

Reflection: I would like to become an illustrator because it seems interesting to do. They only reason I wouldn't follow that career is because I can’t draw, I suck at it.
