“Obedience sums up our entire duty”

What Ballou meant in
this statement was that our life has only one duty which is to follow order and
obey. Ballou is saying the exact opposite, he states that we must fulfill our
life duties of obedience and following others commands. This would help us work
as one and not on our own teams, for example.
